Shop owner Kelly (right) with CLMQG member and employee Lesley.
Meet Kelly, the owner of Kelly's Necchi-New Home Sewing Center in Rockford.
Our members will recognize the name Necchi-New Home Sewing Center because Kelly recently donated the Brother SB700r sewing machine that was given away in September as the grand prize in our 2016 Mystery Medallion Challenge! Since she so graciously donated that fabulous prize, we decided a shop feature on our website was in order :)
Her shop sells new Brother and Janome sewing machines. You can see they have a huge selection - all sizes and price ranges of sewing, serging, quilting, and embroidery machines to meet your every sewing need. All new machine purchases include lessons on that machine and a first year cleaning.
The machine service staff performs maintenance and repairs on all sewing machine makes and models, and all service work is done in house - nothing is sent out.
If you find yourself in the market for a new sewing machine, please consider visiting Kelly's store - she's a big supporter of our guild and operates a full-service sewing machine business with great selection and competitive pricing.
I did a short test drive on this computerized Brother machine during my visit last week - so fun with a ton of great features and such smooth, even stitching!
The walls are filled with eye-catching samples, and the shop offers classes in Machine Embroidery, Basic Clothing Construction, and Quilting.
Since the store sells and services embroidery machines they offer a large variety of design software from Hoop Sisters and many others. Plenty of notions including Madeira, Mettler, and Maxi-Lock threads, stabilizers, and Atkinson zippers are stocked. They don't sell quilting fabrics, but currently offer a curated selection of lovely high-quality knits from Art Gallery and Michael Miller.
While they don't stock vintage sewing machines, they do currently have this beautiful green Fleetwood machine for sale. It was manufactured in Japan in the 1950's, it's all metal, and it sews like a dream - straight stitch, zigzag, and four step buttonhole.
The next time you're in Rockford stop in to see Kelly (and maybe Lesley too!) and test drive one of the new or "experienced" sewing machines in stock. You might be tempted to bring one home! And if you are in the market for a new machine, please consider making your purchase at Kelly's store. Check out their website for more information about store location, business hours, and class schedules. You can also find them here on Facebook.
Thank you so much to Kelly for donating our 2016 Mystery Medallion grand prize and supporting the Crystal Lake Modern Quilt Guild!
