Here is a modern solids quilt that you may not have seen because it is published in the Australian Better Homes and Gardens August 2015 magazine. It's called "Solid as a Block" and was designed by Siobhan Rogers in Sydney, Australia.
The easiest way to get your hands on a copy of this magazine and quilt pattern here in the USA is to purchase the electronic version through zinio.com. Zinio has a free app for Apple, Android, and Windows 8 so you can view your purchased magazines on any smartphone or tablet device as well as your home computer. The electronic August 2015 issue of Australian BH&G costs $5.64 and includes patterns for four quilts and knitting instructions for one blanket.
This quilt finishes at 65" x 76.5", and all the cutting and sewing directions are given in US standard units of inches. Fabric requirements are given in metric units (centimeters), but you can easily convert them using this website. You'll need approximately 9 yards total to make this quilt.
Siobhan also has a recently released quilting book titled "By The Block" which features 18 quilt patterns with great style that don't require a huge time commitment to make. Who doesn't want more quilts like that?! You can order a signed copy of her book here or ask your favorite LQS to order and stock the book.
