We received an email today indicating that CLMQG members are invited to participate with the Chicago and Naperville Modern Quilt Guilds in submitting quilts to the "Modern Quilt Group" portion of the 2015 Rosemont International Quilt Festival exhibit. The show will take place at the Rosemont Convention Center on March 26-28, 2015.
The theme of the Modern Quilt Group exhibit is "Friendship Star" and the minimum size requirement is 36" x 36". There is no entry fee, and online submission for show consideration begins December 19, 2014 and ends January 30, 2015. You will be notified by Friday, February 6, 2015 if your quilt is selected to be part of the exhibit.
If selected for inclusion in the exhibit your quilt needs to be mailed (at your expense) to Houston and received there by February 27, 2015. You will be able to pick up your quilt in Rosemont at the conclusion of the show on March 28 or the IQF will return ship your quilt to you at no expense.
You can find more details about the exhibit and entry requirements here.
While this is a short time frame to design and construct a quilt, the IQF is hoping that the minimum 36" square size requirement will enable more of our members to create and enter a quilt in this exhibit.
Here is a diagram of a traditional Friendship Star quilt block, but the IQF is looking for quilts with a modern spin on this traditional design.
If you are interested in the possibility of seeing a modern friendship star quilt that you created on display in Rosemont next year, put your thinking cap on and start designing!!
