Block of the Month #10

Block of the Month #10
Drunkard’s Path
Presented by Darlene M.

12.5” unfinished block
1/4” seam allowance

I took a class at Barrington Sewing Center a long time ago and used my notes to create this block.

** You will need to print the block templates found here and make your own re-usable templates with cardboard or template plastic.

Cutting Instructions:

Trace template A & B on to each of your fabric choices (Orange, Navy Blue, Candy Blue and Tarragon Green), making sure you cut the notch into each center as marked. Also, make sure the arrows on the template follow the grain of the fabric.

Layout fabrics:

Assembly:

You will sew the curves with NO pins!

Fold each piece in half (at the notch). Then fold in half again and snip the fabric marking the halfway points between the center and the ends of each curve. Sew with the CONVEX piece on top, right sides together. Use a 2.5” stitch and set your machine for the needle down position. Sew slowly and reposition about every 4-5 stitches. As you reposition the top piece, match up the snips and notches.

Complete all 4 sections of the block.

Pressing: Press toward the dark fabric. Do not use steam and do not move your iron back and forth.

Sew together pressing your seams in opposite directions so they will lay flat.

Square up your block to 12 ½”
